Toenail Fungus

What is a fungal nail?

A fungal nail is a common infection of the nails caused by fungi. It typically causes nail discoloration, thickening, and sometimes detachment from the nail bed. While fingernails can be affected, fungal infections occur more frequently on the toenails. The medical term for a fungal nail is "onychomycosis."

How do I recognize a fungal nail?

The edge of the nail(s) will become discolored, thick, brittle, and fragile. Often, small white, yellow, or brown spots appear on the nail itself. If left untreated, a fungal nail can become harder to eliminate due to extensive fungal infection, leading to severe discomfort and pain.

Untreated fungal infections are also more likely to spread to other toenails and even to other members of the household. FunghiClear® can be used as a topical treatment to combat and prevent fungal infections of the toenails and feet.

What are the most common symptoms of a fungal nail?

A toenail fungus often starts on the big toe (for instance by ill-fitting shoes or trauma nail). The nail turns white or yellow, which is a signal that a fungus is active. If the infection deepens into the nail, it will begin to thicken, become brittle and on occasions will detach from the toe. It is critical to treat toenail fungus immediately to prevent cross infection to other toes and to your feet. Allowing the fungus to spread can result in long term discomfort, pain and potentially immobility. As other conditions may also cause similar symptoms, it is recommended to consult with a healthcare professional to ensure an accurate diagnosis.

How can I best combat a fungal nail?

Toenail fungal infections are easy to catch but difficult to treat. Many products are ineffective, are associated with side effects, have multiple drug interactions and/or are unsafe for long-term use. FunghiClear® is effective and safe for treating discolored and brittle toenails, often due to toenail fungus. It contains Manuka oil as the key ingredient. FunghiClear® is recommended by footcare professionals because it is safe, effective, and easy to use.

Are fungal nails contagious?

Yes. Fungal nails are highly contagious, both for yourself and others. If left untreated, the fungus can easily spread to your other toenails. An infected person can spread the fungus to others in the household via fungal spores left behind. FunghiClear® can be used topically to combat and prevent fungal infections of the toenails and feet.

Usage instruction & safety

How long should I continue using FunghiClear® after the fungal infection seems to be eliminated?

After a healthy nail has regrown, which may take 3 to 12 months, we recommend using FunghiClear® 3 times per week, for an additional 3 months, to prevent fungal reinfection of your toenails and feet.

How do I know if FunghiClear® is working?

Toenail fungus is persistent and requires consistent treatment to regrow a new, healthy nail. Based on our clinical evaluations, a healthy nail will begin to grow from the base of the nail at approximately 6-12 weeks. Individual factors such as age and immune status may affect response to treatment. Treatment should continue until the new, healthy nail has completely regrown. FunghiClear® should be sprayed on the affected toenails twice daily. Treatment should be used for as long as it takes to grow a new, healthy nail, which can take 3 to 12 months. Always consult your healthcare professional if symptoms persist or worsen, and always read and follow the product label.

Is it a problem if I forget to use FunghiClear® for a day?

No, however optimal results with FunghiClear® have been demonstrated with regular use (two sprays, twice daily). Irregular use may affect results and it may take longer to see improvements.
